HR 3200 -Proposed Healthcare Reform Legislation- exempts members of Congress and the President from having to become a member of the public plan, why?

Were you aware that this provision existed? I was not until I dug into the available resources on this legislation. Under the proposed legislation, eventually when you loose your current private health insurance coverage you will not be able to simply find a new private plan that you are satisfied with, it will be illegal. You will have to sign on to the government's public option, hence forcing out all available choices for all Americans. However this same legislation EXEMPTS members of Congress and the President from having to follow these same rules? What is up with that? Is that a misprint? No, it is not, it is the honest to God's truth. Furthermore when Republicans attempted to add amendments to the House's version of this legislation that would require an applicant to provide proof of their US citizenship, and then for it to be verified through two already established citizenship verification system, the amendment was removed by the House majority -the Democratic leaders- therefore, illegal aliens with forged driver's licenses and social security cards would walk right on to our "free government healthcare plan" No attempt, no safeguards to insure that those that are NOT eligible don't get on this plan.

It is outlined that the patient's age will be taken into consideration when determining what medical procedures will be allowed and which ones will be withheld. These decisions based not on clinical presentation of the patient by an MD will be made by a Federal Health Board. Do you know that the government is already working to establish these boards and the legislation has not even been voted on by Congress?

These are just three of hundreds of flaws in this legislation beyond the fact that in this country where we are suppose to have a capitalistic system, the government is taking over entire industries, that should make every American, regardless of age, color, background, and all, to say, No, and ask the question, Who is in charge here? Congress or the American people. I choose the later, and ask that the American people wake up.

Contact your members of Congress today, and everyday, not just once but numerous times... once is not enough, you have to repeat your actions, this is the only way you can get it across to them that you are seriously not satisfied with their actions.

  • Ask them why they exempted themselves? What could possibly be a reasonable answer?
  • Ask them why are you including illegal aliens in this legislation, what reasonable answer could they possibly have?
You need to contact members of Congress that are on both sides of this issue and go beyond those that represent your specific districts. It is almost too late for emails. Faxes and phone calls seem to be the most effective at this point. Just Google US Congress and you will get all the contact information you ever wanted. It costs you nothing but your time.
